The Band

The History

In 1996 Pete Hughes put together a band called "Saudade" with Ben walker on Saxes and Percussion, Mike Isaac on Bass, and Mykey Wilson on Drums. In early 1997 I joined the group and we eventually settled on Lara James (Saxes) as the forth member and renamed the band "Lyrica" The band gigged for a while around the northwest but gigs were hard to come by. During this time I was writing tunes and playing them with this band. By early 2001 the band had all but stopped gigging or rehearsing and I started to write and record some new music on my own using Pete and Simon (who was a member of Lyrica for a while near the end) Ollie (who was in a band called "Stratus" with me), Stuart, and Percussionist/Friend Lea Mullen. (Lea has toured with The Happy Mondays, Brian Ferry, Bond, Spandau Ballet, Oasis, Ian Brown to name a few!)

In March 2003 I finally finished the album and here was born an opportunity to form a band with Pete (who I consider my musical brother) and the other people on the album. So with a few gigs sorted out for July and August this year I began rehearsing up the music.
